A U.S. Marine with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) scans a simulated evacuee for weapons or foreign objects during a Non-combatant Evacuee Operation (NEO) part of Amphibious Ready Group/MEU Exercise (ARGMEUEX), Atlantic Ocean, April 24, 2023. The simulated evacuees were transported from a location on Camp Lejeune to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5). The NEO was part of a training scenario exhibiting the ARG/MEU’s ability to safely transport civilians from dangerous situations and processing them for further accommodations. ARGMEUEX is the second at-sea exercise in the MEU’s Pre-deployment Training Program. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Matthew Romonoyske-Bean)
