Cpl. Christopher Bigham, a machinist with CLB 26, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), stands on a bracket that he created with a 3D printer to demonstrate the strength and durability of 3D printed parts aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) in the Atlantic Ocean, Feb. 21, 2018. The 26th MEU is the first MEU to deploy with a 3D printer, paving the way for the future of maintenance in deployed environments, drastically reducing repair and wait times for replacement parts and various items.
