Sergeant Joseph Lamberty, an artilleryman assigned to Battery E, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, was presented a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal by Maj. Gen. W. Lee Miller Jr, the II Marine Expeditionary Force commanding general, June 16. Lamberty was awarded as the II Marine Expeditionary Unit Noncommissioned Officer of the Year following an eight month deployment with the 26th MEU. Lamberty was part of a detachment of Marines deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve as part of Task Force Spartan, where the unit provided indirect fire support to Iraqi security forces.
