U.S. Marine Corps Col. Matthew G. St. Clair, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) commanding officer, speaks with U.S. Army Major General Terry Ferrell, Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) Commanding General, on a Landing Craft Air Cushion in the well deck aboard the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), Sept. 19, 2013. CJTF-HOA senior leaders met with the command and staff of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to discuss the capabilities of the Amphibious Ready Group. The 26th MEU is a Marine Air-Ground Task Force forward-deployed to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility aboard the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group serving as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious operations across the full range of military operations.
