U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Alan Portillo, native of Eloy, Ariz., a mortarman assigned to Battalion Landing Team 3/2, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), sanitizes exercise equipment in the gym aboard the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), at sea, July 22, 2013. 26th MEU Marines help keep the gym clean during the executive officer’s “Happy Hour”, which is one hour dedicated to cleaning the entire ship seven days a week. The 26th MEU is a Marine Air-Ground Task Force forward-deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility aboard the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group serving as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious operations across the full range of military operations.
