U.S. Marines assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and U.S. Sailors assigned to the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), swim in the well deck of the USS Kearsarge during a Steel Beach Picnic at sea, May 25, 2013. The 26th MEU is deployed to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of responsibility aboard the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group. The 26th MEU operates continuously across the globe, providing the president and unified combatant commanders with a forward-deployed, sea-based quick reaction force.
