May 24, 2013

2nd Lt. Elliot Eggert, a field artillery officer assigned to Battalion Landing Team 3/2, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), traverses a horizontal climbing frame over a pool during an aquatic physical endurance test with French Marines assigned to 110th Infantry Regiment, French and German Brigade, aboard General Briere de L'Isle Base in Djibouti, Africa, May 22, 2013. The aquatic physical endurance test was a portion of the screening for the French Marine's Desert Survival Combat Course, a 10-day bilateral training event that teaches participants how to survive in the desert. The 26th MEU is deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations as part of the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group. The 26th MEU operates continuously across the globe, providing the president and unified combatant commanders with a forward-deployed, sea-based quick reaction force.
