Staff Sgt. Joshua Knights serves food with the first class petty officers and staff sergeants assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and the USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) during Steel Beach, a social event for the rest of the ship's personnel to enjoy eating food, playing games, and relaxing in the sun while at sea April 13, 2013. The MEU is currently deployed as part of the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group to the 5th Fleet area of operation. The 26th MEU operates continuously across the globe, providing the president and unified combatant commanders with a forward-deployed, sea-based quick reaction force. The MEU is a Marine Air-Ground Task Force capable of conducting amphibious operations, crisis response and limited contingency operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Staff Sgt.
