John Newman, Combat Training Pool assistant site manager, speaks to 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit Marines and sailors about the necessity to exhale compressed air when rising to the surface of the pool during an Underwater Egress Training Course on Camp Lejeune, N.C., May 15, 2012. If an individual fails to exhale compressed air when rising to the surface of a body of water, the air in their lungs will expand and could lead to an air embolism as well as other serious problems. Marines and sailors of the 26th MEU took part in this course to learn how to escape a helicopter in the event of a water landing.
