USS New York is docked at Pier 88 next to the USS Intrepid in New York City. The newest addition to the Navy’s fleet is the largest in its class, Landing Platform Dock, and will be commissioned Nov. 7, 2009. The ship has a larger hull holding two of the Navy’s hover crafts, the landing craft air cushioned. Other improvements are a larger flight deck and hanger and better living spaces for Marines and sailors. ::r::::n::
