Arizona Air National Guard Tech. Sgt. Craig Armstrong and MSgt Jake Martinez prepare to launch the SkySat High Altitude Operational Payload system while Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit and USS Iwo Jima sailors observe the launch. This was the first launch of SkySat from the Iwo Jima and only the second Naval vessel from which the unit has been launched. SkySat could one day help Marines in the field with handheld radios communicate as far as 500 miles, regardless of terrain. Marines from the 26th MEU learned about the system Jan. 12 and got hands-on with the gear during the next several days.
