Sergeant Major, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable)
Sergeant Major James L. Horr

Sergeant Major Horr began his current assignment as the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit's Sergeant Major on 10 September 2021.  A native of Wheeling, West Virginia, Sergeant Major Horr enlisted in the Marine Corps in December 1998 and was assigned as an Avionics Technician.  He has attended all required Marine Corps Resident Professional Military Education (PME) Courses, Senior Enlisted Joint PME I & II, and Keystone. 
 
His service in the Fleet Marine Force includes: Avionics Technician, Work Center Supervisor with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 36 (December 1999-September 2003), Work Center Supervisor, Production Control Chief with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 24 (May 2006-January 2010), CI/HUMINT Company First Sergeant with 1st Intelligence Battalion (February 2013-August 2013), Group Sergeant Major with Brigade Headquarters Group-Afghanistan (August 2013-August 2014), H&S Company First Sergeant with 1st Intelligence Battalion (August 2014-February 2015), Echo Company First Sergeant with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines (February 2015-February 2017), Battalion Sergeant Major with Combat Logistics Battalion 5 (July 2017-June 2019), and Battalion Sergeant Major with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion (June 2019-June 2021).
 
His service outside the Fleet Marine Force includes: Marine Security Guard, Assistant Detachment Commander, United States Embassies Asuncion, Paraguay and Bogota, Colombia (September 2003-June 2005).  Avionics Lead Instructor, Squadron Gunnery Sergeant at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (January 2010-February 2013). 
 
Sergeant Major Horr's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star, and various other service and campaign medals.
